The Power of Team Coaching: Transforming Together for Lasting Change

When I work with a team, coaching them through a period of intense change, it’s much more complex than working with just one individual in an organization. So much of what we’re dealing with involves the interplay between team members and their colleagues. Helping only one of them navigate this can be like showing someone a new way to drive, but none of the other road users know this new way. So, they’re still jostling against each other, because only one person knows these new skills, while everyone else is operating as they were yesterday – and these new skills work so much better when everyone is using them!
When we work with the whole team, we’re designing a new alliance. Together, we’re working through how everyone wants to be with each other, which means we’re bringing everyone onboard to a new way of doing things that serves all of them, not just a single individual.
I come in service of the system, with a shared purpose to help you see yourselves better and understand each other more clearly, so things work together more smoothly. I’m always amazed by how powerful that is. I don’t come with the answers, but we never leave those sessions without insights and new awareness. They just flow, through the process. And because they’re borne of the team, not some new idea that’s been lobbed over the wall at them, those ideas, solutions, and new ways of doing things are rapidly integrated into the team, becoming the new normal. It’s powerful stuff.
